The Breeder Health Guarantee for Every Puppy

What We Guarantee You

The following breeder health assurance must be signed and fulfilled by each Doggo puppy breeder:

A puppy health record detailing the puppy’s vaccinations at the time of sale must be given to you by the breeder.

You must take your newly acquired dog to a licensed veterinarian for an examination within ten days of purchase in order to protect your rights under the dog health guarantee. You have the following choices if a veterinarian finds, within ten days of purchase, that your dog is clinically ill or has passed away due to a disease or injury that was likely acquired on or before the date of sale and delivery:

  1. Return the dog for a complete refund.*
  2. Return the dog for a replacement dog of equal value.*
  3. Retain the dog and receive reimbursement for the veterinarian fees to make the puppy healthy, not exceeding the purchase price.*

What To Do If You Notice Something

These are the steps to take if your new puppy is experiencing health problems:

  • You have the same alternatives as described above if, within 30 days of purchase, a licensed veterinarian finds that your dog has a congenital or hereditary problem that negatively impacts the animal’s health or that the disease caused your dog’s death.

  • You are required to provide the seller with the name, address, and phone number of the examining veterinarian within two business days of the veterinarian certifying your dog’s illness, defect, or death. The rights to the puppy health assurance will be forfeited if the vendor is not notified within two business days.

  • Reimbursements or refunds must be given within 14 days of the vendor obtaining the veterinarian certification. Within five days of receiving the veterinarian certification, you must present it to the seller.

More About Our Dog Health Guarantee and Documentation

A breeder’s one-year genetic health guarantee covers any genetic flaws that might have been inherited from the puppies’ particular breed. Injuries, internal and/or external parasites, and communicable diseases are not covered by the genetic health guarantee..

All veterinary bills are the buyer’s responsibility. In order to implement the breeder health guarantee, a letter from your veterinarian (on business letterhead) outlining the nature of the illness or disorder must be submitted if a genetic disease is found in the puppy. The fact that this is a genetic condition must be included in the letter. The letter must include the veterinarian’s phone number since the breeder retains the right to speak with the veterinarian about the health issue. The breeder will cover the cost of treatment (up to the puppy’s purchase price) if it is found that your puppy has a hereditary disease. The breeder is not directly liable for the puppy’s medical expenses.

Only genetic diseases and disorders are covered by this assurance. The puppy’s health guarantee is valid from the day of birth until the puppy turns one year old.

If the seller tells you that the puppy is registered and does not provide all registration documentation within 120 days of receiving your puppy, you may exercise one of the following options of the puppy health guarantee:

  1. Return the dog and receive a full refund of the purchase price.
  2. Retain the dog and receive a 50% refund of the purchase price.

*These options do not apply where a seller, who has provided a health certificate issued by a veterinarian, discloses in writing at the time of sale the health problem for which the buyer later seeks reimbursement or to return the dog.
